President’s Night 2015

Presidents night 2015-2016We enjoyed a lovely meal at The Swan in Milton Keynes village to celebrate the end of President Jan Flawn’s year. Afterwards we moved to the garden where Alison thanked Jan for her work as President.

Jan thanked all at the club for their support, particularly with the trim trail for Great Brickhill. Alex received Rotarian of the Year for his work with the club accounts.

Alison was inducted as President for the Rotary year 2015-2016 and formally presented Sue with her President Elect ribbon. A lovely evening.

Another two new members

Almost the last meeting of the Rotary year and yet the club managed to induct two new members. On the left we have Liz Daly who was a member of Milton Keynes Rural Rotaract back in the day. Welcome to the club Liz, we know you will fit right in. On the right, is Kevin who for the last two years has very kondly driven our Santa Float round the streets of Bletchley and Newport Pagnell. Jan our President Elect is his sister and has used her influence to persude him to give the club some of this precious time and skills. Welcome Kevin, we are already indebted to you and look forward to finding out what else you are good at so we and our good causes can benefit even more than we do now.

Winner of 2 District Awards

Brickhills Membership awardLesley ebulletin Award winnerJune 28th was the district handover dinner and the presentation of the district awards for outstanding acheivement in special categories. The Club entered for 3 awards and we are delighted to say that we won two out of the three. For the first time the club entered for the membership award. We had to state how many new members we had gained over the previous 12 months and the steps we took to promote the club and gain those new members. The application included the sucessful membership evening that Sue and Lesley held and we are delighted to say that we won this terrific award.

Additionally this year for the first time we started an e-newsletter using the programme mailchimp. Lesley has done a wonderful job with the format and content to produce an award winning newsletter that was recognised by the bestowing of the district award. We are thrilled for her and for us as well. Well done team Brickhills, a culmination of a really good year.

Rotarian of the Year 2012

Rotarian of the Year Lesley

I think Lesley was the most surprised person in the room when it was announced at Presidents night that she had been voted by the members as the Rotarian of the Year.

Lesley said...

"Thank you very much for voting me "Rotarian of the Year". I have enjoyed this past year very much because it was shared with you all. Thank you for your friendship and support.

As in many Oscar speeches the winner goes to the podium and is speechless as the award was very unexpected (just think I could have had 5 pages of thankyous). I think I was not far off the same shade of my dress! If I was at the Oscar podium I would have liked to include a member of the club to share it with me. Sarah. I think she has worked tirelessly and with tremendous energy and I would love to have her stand next to me.

I look forward to next year with Nigel at the helm and I hope to carry on the excellent work all Rotarians achieve."

Well done Lesley.

Last meeting of the year and new members

Peter new member 27.05.12Angela new member 27.05.12

Last business meeting of the year was made extra special by inducting two new members, Angela Russell and Peter Gore.

Peter has been a member of the club in the past and is currently Area Chairman for Round Table in South Buckinghamshire. Angie works with Jan, one of our exisiting members and helped us out on the day of the Marathon, getting extremely wet; anyone who has that kind of tenacity is definitely one for our club.

Welcome to you both.
