Bletchley Rotary club held their first quiz night on the 30th March 2012. Our club put in a team of 8 members, the maximum team size. of the 8 rounds we choose to play our jok er on the 'colours' round and we scored 8 correct. The best round we had was on the general knowledge round where we scored full marks. We did well though as we gianed the higest score and were the WINNERS. Thanks go to Neil and David who knew most of the answers. The rest of us earned our right to be there in subtle ways ( one or two answers!!!) A fun night and over £550 rasied for good causes.

Annual Jaipur Dinner

jaipur dinner attended by 6 club members

The annual Jaipur dinner in February was well attend by the club members and friend. Seven of us turned up to eat a delightful meal produced by the Jaipur Restaurant in Milton Keynes.

The atmosphere was livley and conversation flowed like the drink (freely). No-one from our club won a raffle prize but lots of money was rasied for the Jaipur Limb project in India.

This is always a good event, if you have never been then we highly recommend it, join us same time next year.

Our first year towing the Santa Float

Rotary Club of the Brickhills and Santa on the night of iceThe group of Santa elve collectors for the Rotary Club of the BrickhillsWe were a very privileged club as Santa asked us to tow him around Bletchley and Newport Pagnell to allow the children to see him and so that Santa could ask them if they had been good!

the first Sunday around Bletchley Poets estate must have been one of the wettest on record. Poor Santa was wet through to his long johns and the collector elves were a very sodden unhappy lot. Their spirits were cheered by the generosity of the people of Bletchley, who piled coins and notes into the collecting tins in aid of MK Snap.

The following Sunday  we took Santa out again to the Poets estate in Newport Pagnell and this night was thankfully dry but very cold and icy and not to be outdone the residents of Newport added even more to the elves collecting tins. A wonderful pair of evenings ( in spite of the rain and ice). To be repeated we hope next year. Thank you to MK Round Table for the loan of their sleigh and for all their help..

Collaboration with MK Orchestra

Rotary Clubs of the Milton Keynes in collaboration with the MK orchestraRotary Clubs of the Milton Keynes in collaboration with the MK orchestraSaturday night 19th November saw the first of many we hope collaborations between the MK Orchestra and the 8 Rotary clubs of milton Keynes. We were invited to sell 40 tickets of a subsidised fee, the balance going towards the Polio Plus fund.

It was a truly brilliant concert the orchestra playing some well loved classics such as Pachebels's Canon in D, Bach's Brandenburg Concerto no:3 and Vivaldi's The Four Seasons. The craft was evident in the skill exhibited by the musicians and the concert was loved by all who attended.

The Brickhills take Santa for a ride!

Rotary Club of the Brickhills take santa for a ride. This year the RC of the Brickhills will be taking Santa for a ride in his sleigh and raising much needed funds for local charities at the same time.

When the local Round Table asked us if we would like to take over their Santa float and deliver joy and fun to local residents, we jumped at the chance.

This year for the first time, The Rotary Club of the Brickhills will be taking Santa on a tour of the Poets estate in Bletchely on the 11th December and again on the Poets estate in Newport Pagnell a week later on the 18th December. Both visits will take place between 6pm and 8pm.

So, look out for Santa's little helpers and prick your ears for a feast of festive music and cheer as the parade makes its way past your house and make sure you come out to wave and join in the fun.
