It was Murder at the Sheldon's at the weekend!

South American Villain Andy from the Rotary Club of the BrickhillsHappy smiling characters from the Rotary Club of the BrickhillsWe celebrated Andy's birthday by enacting a murder mystery. All 24 of us were give a character to play and we all had to solve the murder as well as get the most money and wheel and deal in fake substances.

It was hard work trying to discover what everyone knew and share information that people needed to know in order to solve the crimes. Everyone dressed up beautifully and acted in character. Although everyone did really well the murderer remained undiscovered. He played the part so well during the night that no-one knew it was Nigel the dastardly villain. Graham and his side kick Cat won the prize for gathering the most wealth, Ali's team won the prize for being the closest to guessing the who the murderer was and Karen Banfield won the prize of the night for being the most in character, although it was a very close thing as everyone was so good.

It was great fun and we want to do more of these. See all the pictures here

Our 9th Charter night

9th Charter night for the Rotary Club of the BrickhillsWe celebrated our 9th Charter night on the 1501 5th January at the Hilton Doubletree MK Stadium. The Rotary Club of the Brickhills on charter nightThey started a new menu that night and we all partook. It was called volcanic mains and the main course of your choice came on a extremely hot rock slab. How it was cooked was up to us. There was a flavoured oil to aid cooking and 2 dressings to go with the potatoes and vegetables or salad. It was fun to eat and we all enjoyed the experience.

For once we did not play games just enjoyed the conversation and company. As we celebrated our 9th birthday the journey into our 10th year seems full of hope and opportunity. See all the pictures here.

Children's Christmas Party

Rotary Club of the Brickhills adults and children both having funIt's not just the adults who celebrate Christmas!

As a family club, where a majority of members have school aged children, there are lots of events where the family are welcome, but this is the only one dedicated to our younger children.

The children donned their party best and played Wii and Playstation and a range of board games before sitting down to a traditional party tea of nuggets and triangle sandwiches. Sadly Father Christmas was unable to drop in, but he sent an elf with a sack of presents to round the party off in traditional style.

The grown ups had a chance to chat while the children played, and discovered some truly scrumptious crisps!

Victorian Christmas at MK Museum

Back to school in the 1890'slearning and listeningOn Sunday December 12th, the afternoon following the Christmas party, the Douse family, the Richardsons and the Tuohy/Banfields met up with two other ex-members' families for a Victorian Christmas at the MK Museum. It has become somewhat of a tradition for some of us, and it is an afternoon we would certainly recommend.

A New Rotary Year begins

Brickhills rotarian of the year Brickhills president elizabethAlmost the whole club celebrated the end of 2009-2010 with Alison Arnold as our President at the G Casino in Luton. It probably was one of the most unusual Presidents night ever experienced as well as being one of the best. The Casino gave us an excellent evenings entertainment. After a superb 3 course dinner, we all had some expert tuition form one of the host croupiers, then we were give some complimentary chip to bet with. Some of took the opportunity to augment this gift with some of our own money and others of us won enough to pay for the night out.
