District Handover dinner 2016

Chalmers and CherylAndrew and ElizabethJune 28th was the night that District Governor Prue Dixon of Stevenage Club handed over the chains of office to Chalmers Cursley of Amersham Club. It was a great evening held at a venue in Hertforshire. Andrew and Elizabeth were invited as special guests of Chalmers and his wife Barbara. Chalmers in his inaugral speech 'blamed' Elizabeth for enthusing him for District office when she recruited him on the PR and Communications committee of 2008. It was a lovely tribute and much appreciated.

Cheryl Law takes the Governor Elect position and Dave Ford the Governor Nominee post.

Presidents night 2016

casino 1RotY 2016 LesleySaturday the 25th June saw us celebrating the end of the Rotary year 2015-2016 and saying thanks to outgoing President Alison for her contribution to the year and welcoming in the new Rotary year with our incoming President Sue.

As was Alison's wish we went to Grosvenor Casino in Luton organsied beautifully by incoming President Sue; after all we are the casino Kings and Queens of Rotary!

The meal was good and we had some token with which to play the tables and machines. Some of us were luckier than others but it was unanimously agreed that it was a first class evening.

Alison honoured her council which was appreciated and she awarded the Rotarian of the Year which was almost a unanimous vote for Lesley who has contributed enormously to the club and she will be greatly missed next year. Well done Lesley and thank you from all the club members.

Easter Tea: 28 March

easter cake20160328 163222Helen used her baking skills to impress the club members into agreeing to make her star baker for the forthcoming Vintage Tea Party.

Her Easter Egg overflowed with chocolate goodness as the younger members vied for front position.

They were able to run off the calories by the stream trying to fish out their football, luckily Nigel had a decorating pole to hand to assist in the rescue.
