Vintage tea party success

Vintage tea party costume winnersvintage teap party plating upWhat a great afternoon we had on Sunday the 17th April in the Bow Brickhill Pavillion.

Over 50 guests attended, many in costume  to eat delicious sandwiches and cakes ( Helen Douse) all made and served by club members and their families.

Entertainment was provided by Phil ( honorary member of our club ) on the piano and singer Jessica Willis daughter of the event organise Leslie. A quiz was devised by Sue ( Vice President) and the speaker was Helen Seddon previous club member and she spoke about Bletchley Park where she is a volunteer guide.

The member of Parliament of Milton Keynes South attended  and drew the raffle for us. It was a really excellent afternoon and the club raised

£798.54 for Literacy Boxes for African children. A grand effort all round.

Santa Float Success 2015

The Rotary Club of the Brickhills and their friends sent Santa out 4 times over the 3 weeks leading up to Christmas day. Newport Pagnell, Old Farm Park and Bletchley twice.

The residents of these villages seemd delighted to see and hear Santa and were very generous indeed with their donations for the Winternight Shelter and Willen Hospice, over £1900.00 was raised.

Thank you to all the villagers for their generosity, thanks to Nigel Chief Elf and the collectors, thanks to Kevin and his elves for driving Santa and thanks to Santa himself for sparing the time before his BIG night on the 24th December.

 

MacMillan Coffee morning.

McMillan Coffee morning 2015The Rotary Club of the Brickhills in partnership with Music Centre at Shenley Brook End School, baked sumptuous cakes and slices for the ‘World’s Biggest MacMillan Coffee Morning’.

Any kind of chocolate item was snapped up first by the budding musicians, chocolate cupcakes, chocolate slices, chocolate flapjacks and brownies. All the cakes were sold by the end of the morning with no leftovers! £173 was donated to MacMillan Cancer Support.

Thank you to all the bakers who kindly donated their wares. 

Teddy Tombola, Woburn Festival 12th September

teddy tombola2Teddies galore at our teddy tombola raising money for literacy boxes to be sent overseas. Started as a rainy morning butsun came out in the afternoon and £103 was raised in total.

The name of the tiger chosen was Sher Khan and he was sent happily to his new home on Emerson Valley.
