A weekend in the Cotswolds

Rotary Cotswold weekend 14.06.15 copypenguin copyA group of happy Rotarians dusted off their boots for a walking weekend in the Cotswolds. Everyone had a lovely time in spite of some wet weather on day one.

The trip included Burford (coffee and cake), Bourton on the Water (lunch in a pub), Morton in Marsh (dinner in a hotel) and Oddington (another pub lunch).

There was even time to meet the penguins and visit an excellent cheese room at a farm outlet.

Charter Night - 11th

charter nightThe Rotary Club of the Brickhills Charter Night was a very cheerful affair. Held at La Collina, Little Brickhill, Our guest Jenny Muir (DG) along with twenty club members and partners celebrated the clubs charter or birthday. As one of 32,000 clubs worldwide we also celebrated our accomplishments as a club and as an organization.

We recently supported two local charities, which support the homeless in our local community; we are also involved with MK satellite villages building a Trim Trail at Great Brickhill. We continue support international projects in India and the Rotary International Polio Plus program, involved with the immunization of nearly two billion children. The Rotary Club of the Brickhills continues to thrive and welcomes new members.

New Years Day Walk 2015

walk selfie

Lovely, chilly walk with lots of families and prospective members. We walked around Rushmere in Heath and Reach for a good hour before returning to one of the members houses for a warm cup of tea and chocolate biscuits. There were plenty of of puddles for the boys to splash around in, so much so the Chihuahua, Gracie, refused to walk any further and had to be carried to the car!

All in all, a fun and refreshing adventure to walk off the Christmas pudding!

Walk round Lodge Lake

photophoto3

So the sun was shining and it stay warm and dry all the time we were walking round the glorious lake called Lodge Lake near Great Holm in Milton Keynes. There were 13 of us who enjoyed the warm sunshine on this fine Sunday morning and I do not think there was anyone who woud have preferred to have stayed at home.

Andy S kept the children entertained by inventing nature finding games for them and to a child they were all calling him "Please Mr Sheldon Sir Please" just they way he likes it.

After a walk of 90 minutes we ate at the Kam Tong Restaurant; good food, great company and the snugness of knowing we had earned our meal by walking first.
